A Gut Health means a good functioning and a proper balance of your digestive system, but do you know gut is where food is broken down, all nutrients are absorbed and waste is removed from the body. In your GUT there are trillions of good bacteria,It is also called gut microbiota or Gut Flora, these good bacteria helps in digesting your food and helps in making vitamins, also fight with harmful germs, and keeping your immune system strong. If the gut is healthy, digestion is smooth, you feel energetic all the day and your body  absorbs nutrients very well, But  if in case the gut become unhealthy due to poor diet, stress or infection,it can cause various problems  like BLOATING, GAS,CONSTIPATION,and FATIGUE or even mood changes. so a healthy gut play a very important role in human body because it is the balance of good bacteria and proper digestion that keeps your  whole body healthy from your stomach to your mind.

According to Ayurveda

According to our Ayurveda for the overall well-being a healthy gut plays an important role and it is guided by the main concept of  AGNI or DIGESTIVE FIRE and its goal is to strengthen this digestive fire by conscious eating habits and nourishing your foods,so it is very important to understand the food habit for your healthy gut health.

Here are Five Ayurvedic Food Habits for Gut Health

1. Eat According to Your Body Type (Dosha)

In Ayurveda, every individual person is born with a unique body constitution, this is known as PRAKRITI and it is made up of three vital Energies or Doshas- VATA, PITTA, and KAPHA. In your body all physical and mental processes are govern by these Doshas, in this process your digestion is also including. To maintain balance in your body and to promotes a healthy gut, eating according to your dominant doshas are very helpful.

VATA  DOSHA ( Air + Space)

Vata dosha, which is made of space and air elements, tends to be cold, light and dry.People with dominant vata are often experience bloating, gas and constipation if they eat raw and cold foods. To balance vata our Ayurveda recommends warm ,moist and specially grounding meals like stews, soups, cooked vegetables, rice and ghee.

 PITTA DOSHA (Fire + Water)

PITTA dosha composed of fire and water,it controls metabolism and digestion but can easily overheat, leading to acidity, heartburn ,or ulcers. To control Pitta dosha one should include calming and cooling foods like milk ,coconut water, milk, fresh fruits. and avoid spicy food, oily or sour dishes.

KAPHA DOSHA ( Earth + Water)

This KAPHA DOSHA is formed from Earth and Water elements,it is heavy, stable, and slow.Excess kapha can cause sluggish digestion, weight gain, and mucus buildup. To make a balance in it our ayurveda suggests light, warm and dry foods like steamed vegetables, lentils and spices such as ginger, black pepper and turmeric.you should eat according to your doshas it ensures that the agni remains strong, and the nutrients are absorbed properly and toxins do not accumulate in the gut,and by this you can support your overall digestive and immune health.

2. Eat Fresh Warm and Cooked Meals

Ayurveda says that eating fresh, warm and cooked meals is one of the most important habit for maintaining a healthy gut.Freshly prepared food give us life energy which nourishes both the body and mind.As warm and cooked foods are gentle on the digestive system and very helpful to strengthen the agni means your digestive fire,It making easier for the  body to break down and absorb nutrients. In opposite way stale, cold,or processed foods are considered heavy and dull ,which can weaken agni and this lead to the accumulation of toxins in the digestive tract.Warm foods like khichdi, porridges, warm soups,or lightly cooked vegetables soothe the stomach, pramote good digestion and prevent from gastic and bloating.Ayurveda says eating leftovers or refrigerated foods is not a good habit as they lose their vitality and create imbalance in the doshas, especially in VATA  and KAPHA. To get the natural flow of digestion it is necessary to eat fresh home made foods at a regular times,It keeps the digestive rhythm stable and supports the natural flow of digestion

3.Eat Mindfully and in a Calm Environment - Eating Mindfully and in a calm environment is a key Ayurvedic habit as it supports healthy digestion and a balanced mind. Your mind plays an important role, because  when you eat in a peaceful sitting you can free from distractions like television, phones,or stressful thought. Ayurveda teaches that digestion begins in the mind. When you are calm and attentive that time your brains signal the body to relese the right digestive enzymes, allowing food to be broken down efficiently. Sitting down comfortably, eating slowly, and chewing food thoroughly helps the stomach, process meals with ease and prevents issues like bloating or indigestion.Overeating or rushing through meals can overwhelm the agni.so we can say that a mindful eating harmonizes the body and mind, strengthens digestion and aslo enhance the overall flow of energy and well being.

4.Add Digestive Spices and Herbs in Daily Meals -  It is a very good and essential habit to add digestive spices and herbs in your daily meals for maintaining your gut healthy. Ayurveda says that adding some natural spices not only add flavor but also act as powerful healers that strengthen the AGNI (Digestive Fire),and also prevent your body from the buildup of AMA (Harmful Toxins). There are so many spices such as cumin, ginger, fennel, coriander, turmeric, carom seeds(ajwain),these are helpfull in our digestion, absorption and elimination even these spices are playing an important role in your digestion.
